I have been getting a lot of embroidery work lately. I embroidered a group’s name on close to 40 aprons. In the midst of commission work, I have been making bags. A new found passion (WHYYY! like we needed something else – bag hardware, vinyl, etc. where to put it all, building another stash). If you follow Diva Dane and I, you know we have been making quite a few bags lately.
Well unexpectedly, my embroidery work crossed over into my bag making. I have been getting requests for personalized bags and inscriptions. Below are 2 bags, one is a personalized bag and another with a message inscribed in the lining (retirement gift).
Hey Everyone from QuiltCon East,
QuiltCon took place at the Savannah Convention Center and we had to ride a ferry each day from our hotel to the center.

I purchased a new gadget a little while ago and over the holidays had an opportunity to test it out while making ornaments. Its the TrueCut 360, made by The Grace Company. It will cut circles from 2″ to 12″. Below is a demo and my review. I purchased it off Massdrop. I purchased it as a bundle which included the cutter along with a replacement blade. The Massdrop deal is no longer active, however, after some research, I found that Amazon has the cutter for about $25.00 and the replacement blades for approximately $5.00.
Here are the ornaments made from the circles – Continue reading

Its been awhile but with the holiday season and just day to day life Bizzy Lady and I haven’t updated our blog lately.
For Black Friday Bizzy Lady and I instead of being in the stores shopping with the crowds, we actually did our shopping on the internet for purse patterns.
It is so funny how we said once upon a time that we wouldn’t making purses, totes or anything like that and now we are obsessed with making them.
Below are a few photos of purses I have made recently.
Happy Friday Everyone,
Just like Bizzy Lady, I purchased the Janome HD3000 for bag making and received it last week. I am so in love with this machine. It handles the thick or bulk of fabric that is needed for totes and purses.
Lately I have been obsessed with bag making. If you have made bags, totes or pouches, you know that sometimes you sew through many layers. I have a Brother Innovis Quattro 2 that is my main machine, quilting and embroidery. I also have my travel machine which is a lightweight Brother Sewing Machine. It was my primary machine prior to me acquiring the Quattro 2.
Although I love my Quattro 2, it doesn’t like sewing through the layers when I am bag making. I was working on a bag and bent my needle bar, fortunately the machine was still under warranty. The inconvenience is that the warranty is a carry-in and the shop is 45 minutes from my home. They had it for 2 weeks.
So after hearing the tales of woe of others and my own experience, I started to do some research. I saw that many were buying a heavy duty machine dedicated to handle the more stressful projects like demin, leather/vinyl, and bag making. After further research, I decided on the Janome HD 3000.
Not a lot of bells and whistles. Unboxed it and was up and running in no time. The machine is surprisingly quiet, more so than my primary machine. I made a pouch (Clobird Designs Tulip Zipper Case) and so far I really like the machine.
I expect that you will be seeing a lot of projects made with my new baby.
Until next time…..
